Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB)
- The state will not renew licenses until continuing education requirements have been met. Plan to complete your hours at least one week prior to the renewal date to allow processing time.

- License Renewal:
- Certified Contractors – License Renewal (Even Years) – August 31, 2010
- Registered Contractors – License Renewal (Odd Years) – August 31, 2009
- Local/County Competency Cards – License Renewal – Check with your local/county building department
- Continuing Education Requirements for Certified and Registered Contractors:
14 hours total for the two-year renewal period (see Note for exceptions):
- 1 hour – Business Practices
- 1 hour – Workplace Safety
- 1 hour – Workers Compensation
- 1 hour – Advanced Building Code
- 1 hour – Laws & Rules to 489
- 1 hour - Wind Mitigation Methodologies for General, Building, Residential, Roofing, Specialty Structure, or Glass and Glazing license holders
- Remaining hours – General
NOTE: All contractors are required within the first two years of licensing to complete 4 hours of Core Building Code training. Contractors who obtain a certificate or registration 12 months or more prior to renewal are required to complete a minimum of 7 hours of continuing education. Contractors who obtain a certificate or registration less than 12 months prior to renewal are not required to complete continuing education hours.
